Pro-lifers' proposal shelved, abortionist gets to open clinic

Despite local opposition, a well-known late-term abortionist has opened shop in a Colorado town.

After learning that LeRoy Carhart had purchased a building to ply his trade in Pueblo, Colorado, local residents tried to convince city council members (pictured above) to pass an ordinance that would keep him out. At first, the council blocked pro-lifers from testifying this week; but the American Center for Law & Justice straightened them out.

Marcie Little of Colorado for Life tells AFN they testified in a work session prior to a 7 p.m. formal meeting, but then council members issued an edict to the large crowd.

"We all were required to leave the building and stand outside in the cold in Colorado in December for another 45 minutes or an hour," she describes, "and then we got news that the ordinance had been tabled in a 4-3 vote and there would be no public comment on the ordinance."

According to Little, Pueblo residents were very disappointed – so they developed a plan of action. "… A number of city council members … are either being termed out in 2023 or are up for re-election," she shares. "And so our job now is to educate voters and let them know exactly what happened [at the meeting]. The people of Pueblo need to make their voices heard at the ballot box."

Meanwhile, the abortionist has opened up shop and is doing late-term abortions in Pueblo. He has a lengthy record of sending abortion patients to emergency rooms, has faced numerous malpractice lawsuits, and is connected with the deaths of two women following an abortion.

A website was established earlier this fall calling local residents to action, including prayer and fasting, in an effort to convince Pueblo's leaders and city government to block Carhart's plans.
