What is AFN.net and who operates this site?

AFN.net is the website of the American Family News Network (AFN), a national Christian news service. Our goal is to present the day's news from a biblical perspective. We not only feature the latest breaking stories from across the United States and around the world, but also news of the challenges facing Christians in today's society.

What is the American Family News Network?

In January 2007, the AgapePress division of the American Family Association and the news division of American Family Radio were merged to create the American Family News Network. AFN's staff of ten journalists and seven technology specialists endeavors each day to bring you the most important news from a Christian perspective.

What are AFN's reprint and republication policies?

All originally-produced AFN material is protected by U.S. and International Copyright laws. You can read our entire Reprint and Republication Policy here and the policy of the Associated Press, denying permission to reprint or republish its material from OneNewsNow.com here.

Do you restrict who can and cannot reprint or republish AFN content?

Use of AFN content by any other entity is governed by both our reprint and republication policies, linked to above, and our Acceptable Use policy here. Violation of either policy exposes the violator to potential civil litigation. Continued violation after receiving notice of violation could subject the violator to criminal prosecution.

What happened to AgapePress and AFR News?

In January 2007, the AgapePress division of the American Family Association (AFA) and the news division of American Family Radio were merged to create the American Family News Network (AFN). The news from AgapePress that you previously read online or in your Christian newspaper was, for the most part, originally produced for radio by the American Family Radio news division and then edited for print style, expanded and syndicated by the AgapePress staff. AFR news was simply unable to deliver all of the information gathered by their reporters in the four and a half minutes allotted for news. AgapePress was created as a news syndication service for Christian newspapers, not as a perpetually-updating online outlet to provide news from the Christian perspective to an audience that includes, but reaches beyond the Christian community.

In late 2006, AFA founder and Chairman Don Wildmon approved the creation of the American Family News Network (AFN) and OneNewsNow.com to overcome these limitations and to better provide news from a Christian perspective to the world via the Internet. After two months of development, OneNewsNow.com was launched on January 15, 2007. AFN is staffed by the same individuals who have provided AFR News since 1996 and syndicated that news via AgapePress since 1999, in addition to new staff members with expertise in online news delivery.

I made a comment, but it's not showing up. Why?

After you make a comment, it won't show up until it passes through our moderators. This process can take anywhere from 10 minutes to 24 hours (24 hours usually on the weekend) to appear on the website -- depending on the time of the day. If you made a comment and it simply didn't show up at all, it might have been because it was too long, contained a URL (a web link), or didn't pertain directly to the article ( read our policy regarding this). Also, we will not post any comments that are rude and degrading to AFN.net or any of our readers who also made comments. And, of course, we won't post any comments with profanity or vulgarity in them.
