Democrat pastors claim Republicans 'hijacked' Jesus for political gain

A news service says there are "a band of white Democratic pastors" running for office who want to rescue Jesus from the MAGA movement.

The Agence France-Presse (AFP) says that "no fewer than seven white clergy or ministers-in-training representing the Democratic Party are vying for congressional seats."

What all these candidates seem to have in common, according to AFP, is that they are pro-LGBT, pro-abortion and pro-undocumented or illegal immigrant, and so is their “Jesus.” Apparently, they will no longer stand for Republicans “hijacking” Jesus for political gain.

They are led, of course, by Texas senatorial candidate James Talarico, who has spoken a myriad of theological controversies. AFN reported previously on Talarico’s falsehoods, including a warped view of the character of God.

“God is both masculine and feminine and everything in between. God is nonbinary,” Talarico said, claiming his statement was backed by the Apostle Paul.

Talarico also used the Bible to advocate for the pro-abortion agenda. He interpreted the story of God talking to Mary in Luke 1 as God asking for consent before the Holy Spirit came over her.

McFarland, Alex (Christian apologist) McFarland

Dr. Alex McFarland of “Exploring the Word” on American Family Radio says that their Jesus is not the Jesus he finds in his Bible.

“To the Talaricos of the world, they should look up Luke 6:46, where Jesus asks people, ’Why do you call me Lord, Lord, and do not do the things I say?’” McFarland says.

He says part of the reason the Democrat Party is in the identity crisis it is in — and America's moral compass seems to be following close behind — is because of so-called pastors like this.

“America is in the dire straits which we find ourselves right now because of decades of liberal, woke, Bible-denying pastors,” McFarland says.

To be clear, McFarland says Jesus is not a Republican either. But if, as a Christian, one is going to invest a politician’s vote, it should be in a candidate with biblical values.

“Is Jesus a Republican? Here's the reality. The positions and platforms of the Republican Party in recent decades have more closely resembled Biblical truth than that of the Democrats,” McFarland says.
