Medical professionals are offering a second opinion amid the renewed push for face coverings.

Last week, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced it is dropping its recommendation that people distance and quarantine themselves if they come into close contact with someone who has COVID-19, instead advising that "if you were exposed to COVID-19, you wear a high-quality mask for 10 days and get tested on day five."

Brase, Twila (CCHF) Brase

Twila Brase, RN and president/co-founder of the Citizens' Council for Health Freedom, says face coverings do not stop the spread of COVID-19, though that is the stated reasoning for mask mandates. Even so, schools in places like San Diego are deciding to re-mask children.

"We have Connecticut as well saying that children should be masked," Brase continues. "There are still all sorts of folks who are choosing to still live in fear or still impose mandates on life on ordinary people who just don't know."

Recently on the "Fox & Friends" program, Fox News Medical Contributor Dr. Nicole Saphier also questioned the need to push masks again.

"It does not make sense that you are still having mask mandates in the United States, especially children, [when] the overwhelming majority of them have already had COVID," she said. "It's time to move forward."

The CDC also urges anyone who tests positive for COVID-19 to stay home and isolate from others for at least five days, then "wear a high-quality mask when you must be around others at home and in public."
