Red-state Missouri is known as a pro-life state, too, but a pro-life activist says legislation that targets women is going too far.

A couple of bills have been introduced in the Missouri legislature that would charge women with murder if they abort their child in The Show Me State.

Susan Klein, of Missouri Right to Life, tells AFN the pro-life group opposes the legislation because it knows that females, especially minors, are often forced to undergo an abortion.

“They are found in a situation where their lives are being threatened or for some reason they're being forced, or coerced, to have abortions,” she says.

Missouri is one of 14 states that already bans abortions at all stages of pregnancy, with limited exceptions for example for the mother's life.

Klein says the pro-life side believes in being compassionate and caring, even for mothers who terminate an unborn child, so the pro-life group opposes the legislation. Most pro-life legislators oppose it, too, she says.
