DOJ accused of dragging it feet investigating attack on NY pro-life center

A pro-life leader in New York believes leaders in some top federal agencies can be prosecuted for not going after those who attack pro-life organizations.

On June 7, 2022, the CompassCare pro-life pregnancy center in Buffalo, New York was firebombed, resulting in many thousands of dollars in damage. Later a woman painted over its sign but was arrested, pled guilty and ordered to make restitution. The latter was a local case; in the former – a federal case – the U.S. Department of Justice has made no arrest in the arson case.

CompassCare CEO Jim Harden tells AFN he's not surprised.

"Because Kristen Clarke, the assistant U.S. attorney under Merrick Garland, is a known BLM/Antifa supporter and she is vehemently opposed to pro-life pregnancy centers," Harden alleges. "… Her office, the Office of Civil Rights Division, is responsible for investigating crimes against pro-life organizations – and she is not doing it."

Harden contends DOJ leadership is in violation of a provision of the 1871 Third KKK Act.

"What's interesting is leaders within the DOJ – the FBI, Christopher Wray – and the DHS and others within the Biden administration should be held liable," he explains, "because [Section] 1986 [of that act] states that any person who knows of a violation or conspiracy to deprive rights is occurring and is in a position to prevent it and fails to assist in the prevention can be prosecuted."

CompassCare has been waiting for the Department of Justice to comply with its responsibilities, but Harden says evidence proves it might be a long wait.
