Utah judge blocks another pro-life bill on behalf of Planned Parenthood

Abortion clinics in pro-life Utah are free to kill unborn babies thanks to a court ruling that delayed a new state law.

Utah legislators and Gov. Spencer Cox have backed a new state law restricting abortions to a hospital setting but Judge Andrew Stone has blocked the law from taking effect this week after Planned Parenthood filed a lawsuit.

The abortion giant argues the new law will “functionally eliminate” abortion access.

"The ruling was not surprising because Judge Stone has a long history of this kind of activism," Mary Taylor, president of Pro-Life Utah, tells AFN citing a 2022 ruling.

The pro-life activist calls the judge’s ruling “tragic” because pro-lifers estimate 2,500 abortions have been performed since last summer, when Judge Stone blocked a so-called trigger law pending a Planned Parenthood lawsuit.

“And so now the killing continues,” she says, “and that number continues to rise."

The issue is expected to eventually go before the Utah Supreme Court. Meanwhile, abortion remains legal up to 18 weeks in Utah under state law.
