No doubt: Virginia Dems in pro-abortion 'lockstep'

Democratic lawmakers in Virginia's General Assembly are relentless in making good on their promises regarding pro-life bills.

Democrats are the majority party in the Virginia Senate – and as Olivia Gans Turner of the Virginia Society for Human Life tells AFN, they vowed to not pass any law that had even a hint of pro-life in it. She cites a recent example by the Democratic Senate leader.

"… Senator Louise Lucas even made a mockery of the governor's bill to protect [unborn] babies capable of feeling pain by displaying a trash can in her office and shredding the governor's bill proposal and saying that trash is how she would treat every single pro-life bill," Turner shares.

The governor's Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act – which had passed the Republican-led House of Delegates – wasn't the only measure submitted to protect preborn children that met defeat at the hands of Senate Democrats.

"… A bill to protect unborn children who survive an abortion attempt, and bills that would have done something as simple as creating a website to make sure that women in Virginia have more access to information about free maternal and child care that's available throughout the Commonwealth – [those] were all defeated," the pro-lifer laments.

Like the governor's bill, those bills also had been passed in the 100-member House of Delegates, where Republicans hold the majority.

"The fact that the Virginia Senate refused to support these rational bills is a clear indication of the lockstep, radical attitude towards unrestricted abortion through all nine months of pregnancy that half of our General Assembly members hold,” adds Turner.

The pro-life group points out, however, that Senate Democrats showed "just how extreme they are" by passing a Right to Abortion Amendment – which, if approved, will amend the Constitution to legalize abortion up to birth and eliminate any regulations or limits on abortion.
