A pro-life group is warning that getting an abortion in New Mexico's largest city could end up with a trip to a hospital – a consequence of abortion being unregulated by the state.

No fewer than four women have been transferred to the hospital from an Albuquerque abortuary since the first of the year. Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico laments what her group is witnessing.

"The day after we published our last story reporting that there had been three women injured at the UNM Center for Reproductive Health abortion clinic, we had a fourth woman who was documented as being put into an ambulance and taken away to emergency services," she shares.

Shaver suggests the rash of injuries could be occurring because inexperienced doctor trainees at the UNM School of Medicine are botching abortions – or it could be the abortion itself.

"A lot of people don't realize that abortion procedures are blind procedures," she explains. "You know, it's all done by feel … and the abortionist can't see inside the womb what they're doing – and so that's why it is very risky.

"But of course, what you always hear is that it's much safer than childbirth. But abortion is unnatural; childbirth is natural."

Shaver contends that because the UNM abortion clinic has become so dangerous, the state needs to step in and shut it down. The group has launched an online petition calling for such action.

In an interview with Lifenews.com, Shaver emphasized that as abortion complications continue to mount in the Land of Enchantment, "it's clear that abortion is not healthcare."
