A conservative columnist says it is unthinkable that New York is embracing both communism and radical Islam as we begin a new year.

Robert Knight is a columnist for the Washington Times.

His latest piece is headlined "Going Green and Red in the Big Apple." In it he reveals that New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani has appointed someone who staunchly believes in the confiscation of private property.

Weaver, Cea (Mamdani aide) Weaver

"Cea Weaver. She's 37 years old. She's a Democratic Socialist, and she's basically said they're going to outlaw private property in New York City. She said we've treated property as an individualized good and not a collective good, and we're going to transition, and I'm quoting her now, into ‘treating it as a collective good and toward the model of shared equity.’ She's talking about seizing property. This is a communist goal to get rid of private property."

AFN previously reported how videos and deleted posts show Weaver criticizing home ownership as rooted in white supremacy.

Jeff Stier, a longtime Manhattan resident and advisor to The Heartland Institute, says no one should be surprised. Mamdani is a Democratic Socialist, and Weaver was a tenant organizer with Housing Justice for All and Democratic Socialists of America.

"There are a lot of people who did not vote for this mayor who are going to be worried about his policies and about his choices for leaders," Stier said. "Just a couple weeks ago, another high-level appointee of his actually resigned after it became public that she made a number of antisemitic tweets."

Knight is also outraged that New York State has gone all out to embrace Islam by lighting up 16 state buildings.

Among them are Freedom Tower, the monument to the former World Trade Center buildings which were destroyed airborne attackers from various Middle Eastern nations, mostly Saudi Arabia.

Now Freedom Tower is lit “in green to honor American Muslim Heritage Month, which many people find amazing … that we're talking about a tower that's at Ground Zero where Muslims sent two jets into the World Trade Center and killed 3,000 people. Here they're lighting it up to honor Muslims. It's unthinkable, really."
