Kennedy's selection of Shanahan panned as 'Loony Tune' decision

A conservative columnist says Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. made a major political mistake this week when he announced Nicole Shanahan, a wealthy entrepreneur and political donor, is his vice-presidential running mate.

At a campaign rally held Tuesday in Oakland, California, Kennedy welcomed Shanahan to his independent ticket and an uphill bid to win the white House.

Shanahan, 38, joined Kennedy as a running mate even though she dropped her support for him earlier this year when he decided to run as an independent, according to a Fox News story.

Robert Knight, a columnist for The Washington Times, tells AFN he can’t figure out what Kennedy was thinking by selecting a Democrat donor.

“She's not going to win any votes for him,” Knight predicts. “The real left-wingers like her are going to vote for the Biden ticket.”

If Kennedy’s campaign was hoping to peel off libertarian-minded Trump voters and far-left Biden voters, Knight says the selection of Shanahan fails to woo either of those voting blocks to his side.

“Now he's placed himself squarely in the Looney Tune left-wing camp with this nominee,” Knight says.
