Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose, a Republican, has some serious problems with a proposed constitutional amendment being pushed by several politically progressive organizations, including the Ohio Organizing Collaborative, the Ohio Conference NAACP and the Ohio Unity Coalition. The amendment – labeled as the “Secure and Fair Elections Act” – would only need a simple majority by Ohio voters to become law.
LaRose, who is running for a U.S. Senate seat, says the proposal is a radical effort to undermine election integrity. Tom Zawistowski, president of the We the People Convention and the Ohio Citizens PAC, agrees – adding that in his opinion, it is a leftist wishlist.

"This thing says that once you're on the voter rolls you can never be taken off, even if you move out of state or you die,” he tells AFN. “This [proposed amendment] says that you don't need a photo ID; you literally just need to bring a piece of paper that says I swear I am who I say I am.... They are going to put that on the ballot in Ohio in November.”
The tea party leader contends the overall goal of the groups behind the proposal is one-party rule. Clearly, says Zawistowski, "they want to make America [like] California.”
“These supposed defenders of democracy are working 24/7 to destroy any kind of democracy, any kind of right to vote. They want full totalitarian control and they are working very hard to get it.
“We’re going to have a fight on our hands to make sure it doesn’t pass,” he concludes.
