Ted Cruz rips Obama, Dems for latest use of the 'race card'

A prominent Texas senator is pushing back against Democrats who have tossed out accusations of racism so much that the term has almost become meaningless.

As AFN has reported, Florida's Republican governor – Ron DeSantis – made Democrats livid recently by sending a few dozen illegal immigrants from his state to Martha's Vineyard to highlight the broken immigration system at the southern border. Among those ripping the governor for his decision was former President Barack Obama, who resorted to a racist trope in an attempt to shame DeSantis:

Obama: "But I will say that right now the biggest fuel behind the Republican agenda is related to immigration – and the fear that somehow, America's character is going to be changed if people of darker shades, there are too many of them here."

Responding on Fox News' "Jesse Waters Primetime" Tuesday, Republican Senator Ted Cruz began with a succinct, three-word reply: "What utter garbage."

He went on to argue that the Democrats' arsenal of ideas is rather limited. "Democrats have one card in their entire deck – and it's the race card," said the senator.

Cruz then leveled several accusations himself, saying it is "racist" when President Biden clearly doesn't care that 4.5 million people have crossed the border into America illegally; and when Biden "can't be bothered" to visit the border where he would see women and young children being sexually assaulted by the cartels.

"You know what [else is] racist?" Cruz continued. "When Biden doesn't care about the dead bodies that the cartels leave on Texas farms and ranches across the southern border. You know what's racist? That Biden will do nothing to stop the 100,000 fentanyl overdoses that happened last year."

And specifically, regarding Martha's Vineyard, Cruz said it is racist "when all the lily-white folks on Martha's Vineyard sit back and say, 'No, no, no. We don't want any illegal immigrants here. Send them to south Texas. They can deal with it.'"

That move by the residents of Martha's Vineyard "shows the complete and total hypocrisy of the Left," added Cruz, who pointed out far-left Democrats applauded those "rich billionaire leftists" for essentially deporting the illegal aliens to a military base within 24 hours. Texas, noted Cruz, has not been allowed to do that – despite being expected to deal with the more than four million illegals who have come across the border into the state.

Obama and his family own a $12 million estate on Martha's Vineyard.
