The American Girl doll company is steering little girls into transgender madness. Unfortunately, this is not an aberration. It's another sign of our culture's sacrifice of children to the desires of perverted adults.

Robert Knight is a columnist for The Washington Times. His latest book is "Crooked: What Really Happened in the 2020 Election and How to Stop the Fraud."

When I was young and foolish, I went to see a horror movie one afternoon at a large theater in Bethesda, Maryland. It was George Romero's "Night of the Living Dead," a black-and-white 1968 classic that is still quite terrifying.

The low-budget ($150,000) film is set in western Pennsylvania. It's about some strangers who flee a growing mob of zombies and hole up in a farmhouse. The scariest scene is when a wounded woman, prone on a table, quietly turns into a zombie herself and attacks the people who had thought they were safe.

To me, it's a perfect metaphor for once-trusted people and institutions that have joined the woke mob and turned on the rest of us.

Fifty-one Republican zombies in Congress – 12 senators and 39 House members – joined Democrats and voted to redefine marriage away from the God-created union of man and woman. So much for at least one major party defending the moral order like it means something.

We also learned that the American Girl doll company is steering little girls into transgender madness. Seriously.

Its website offers a book, "A Smart Girl's Guide: Body Image." Aimed at girls aged 3 to 12, the book coaches gender-confused kids to go around parents and talk with a doctor to get puberty blockers.

Girls are told that a doctor "assigned" their sex, but that the "assigned sex doesn't match who they know they are inside." Satan himself could not whisper any more slyly.

"At first, you and the doctor might talk about wearing the clothes and using the pronouns (like he, she, or they) that make you feel most like the true you," the book says. "If you haven't gone through puberty yet, the doctor might offer medicine to delay your body's changes, giving you more time to think about your gender identity."

This is flat out wrong and dangerous, messing with natural puberty. It's child abuse. Angela Morabito of the Independent Women's Forum nailed it: "American Girl used to celebrate American womanhood. Now, it's teaching little girls how to prevent womanhood."

Unfortunately, this is not an aberration. It's another sign of our culture's sacrifice of children to the desires of perverted adults.

More than 50 public libraries have rejected Christian film star Kirk Cameron's request to read his new children's book. But many libraries welcome Drag Queen Story Hour, when men prance in sexually exaggerated female get-ups in front of children. What kind of parents expose their kids to this? What kind of men get their kicks doing this to children? And, why do we put up with it?

Speaking of freaks, the Biden Administration has topped its bizarre appointment of Richard "Rachel" Levine as an assistant secretary of health and four-star admiral in the public health service corps. Sam Brinton, a "non-binary" man who dresses in drag and conducts "kink" workshops, is a deputy assistant secretary at the Department of Energy's Office of Nuclear Energy. Go ahead, Google him.

Mr. Brinton (he prefers they/them) was charged with felony theft for allegedly stealing a Vera Bradley suitcase reportedly worth $2,325 at the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport on Sept. 16. A few weeks later, he hosted a "spanking" seminar, according to the Daily Mail.

Mr. Brinton has since been charged with a second, similar theft at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas, according to reports.

Before ascending to his powerful Energy post, Mr. Brinton made a name supporting laws barring counseling for people with unwanted same-sex desires. His profoundly dishonest testimonies persuaded many lawmakers to ban "conversion therapy," thus denying people hope for change.

You won't see any of this in the New York Times, the Washington Post or on major networks. They're hard at work transforming America into a toxic mix of pansexualism and racial obsession.

Speaking of the latter, The Washington Post recently ran a front-page piece, "Football is America. We shouldn't be satisfied with either."

The article by sports columnist Jerry Brewer brims with malice toward America and the National Football League. Mr. Brewer accuses the NFL of not being woke despite its embracing Black Lives Matter and other leftist causes.

"No sport flaunts its mythology in such a wholly American manner," he complains. "Even the NFL logo – a star-spangled, red, white and blue shield – gushes national pride…. the NFL is so America it hurts. In a country besmirched with injustice, our most addictive game is a depressing model of our endless race problem."

Well, it's endless if you make it so, which explains the Post's daily, salt-in-the-wound race obsession. Mr. Brewer depicts NFL players, of whom 60% are black, as slaves to white team owners even though the players make millions. What about white players? Are they slaves too?

Looking over our tattered national culture beset by a woke, hostile media, I have to conclude that some things are even scarier than "Night of the Living Dead."

But the woke don't get the last word, and they're not beyond redemption in this life. We have it on Good Authority.
