AMA goes woke on harmful words 'male' and 'female'

AMA goes woke on harmful words 'male' and 'female'

The professional association for a quarter-million American physicians is floating a wacky and “woke” idea: Removing sex designation from birth certificates.

In a statement, a board member for the American Medical Association said designating sex on a birth certificate “perpetuates a view that sex designation is permanent and fails to recognize the medical spectrum of gender identity.”

Dr. Jeff Barrows of the Christian Medical Association tells American Family News that claim goes against common sense and biological reality.

“I think, in this decision, the AMA is catering to the 1-2% of the population who experience gender dysphoria later in life,” he complains, “while ignoring the absolute common sense of 98% of the population. So to me as a physician, it just reveals how ideological the AMA has become.”

The medical group, in fact, has been embracing far-left ideology going back decades, including endorsing Obamacare, and it has predictably witnessed many of its members quit in frustration.

More recently, in May, AMA went woke on Critical Race Theory and its claims of white oppressors and minority victims. AMA released a whopping 86-page “Equity Strategic Plan” that states AMA members are “living off the taken ancestral lands of Indigenous peoples,” referring to Native Americans.

“We acknowledge,” the statement continues, moving onto slavery in the U.S., “the extraction of brilliance, energy and life for labor forced upon people of African descent for more than 400 years.”

Back on the topic of medical care, Barrows says the sex of the patient matters to the doctor helping him or her.

“Diseases are different even if they occur both in males and females,” he says. “They tend to be different in how they present, and how they advance, and how they are treated in males and females.”
