A screenshot from the University of California's learning management system presents a scenario:
"My classmate Jane continues to call me James, which was my name before I transitioned. Jane refers to me as a man and complains when I use the women's restroom. I've asked her to stop, but she does not. I feel very disrespected and want this to stop."
Possible choices for the type of "prohibited conduct" that represents include "sexual exploitation, relationship violence, quid pro quo, or hostile environment."
The center recognizes the latter as the correct response, as it "refers to a situation where unwelcome conduct based on someone's protected characteristic creates an offensive, intimidating, or abusive environment."
A UCLA spokesperson told Fox News' Trace Gallagher that while students are required to take harassment prevention trainings, "there is no penalty to enrollment, continued matriculation, or otherwise for choosing any of the options offered in response to the question regarding the transgender scenario."
Gallagher concluded this means that "as long as you get the indoctrination … you're good to go."
Kristina Irwin (R), a candidate for California State Senate, called it "unbelievable" and said people have a right to have a different opinion.
"The career politicians in Sacramento, they're out here censoring free speech instead of dealing with our bills," she relayed. "We have bigger problems."
The California Department of Education implements state laws that are said to protect LGBTQ+ students from discrimination and bullying in public schools, provide guidance and resources for "supportive" environments, and offer "cultural competency" training for teachers.
It claims its role is to ensure compliance with state law and create safe, inclusive schools rather than promote any particular ideology. But as a mother of three kids, Irwin has seen firsthand that California's schools have become "indoctrination camps."
As a state senator, she said the only thing she would like to defund and dismantle is the California education system.
"We need to revamp it. We need to start fresh," Irwin told Gallagher. "We need to actually start teaching kids reading, writing, [and] math, training them on vocational skills. They need to be learning gardening, stocks, bonds, maybe even writing a checkbook."
According to her campaign website, she supports parental involvement in curriculum and school policies, strong academic standards, and safe and supportive learning environments. She also believes there should be zero tolerance for antisemitism in schools and public institutions.
