The purpose of this is to test the ideology of these teachers, according to Oklahoma Education Superintendent Ryan Walters (shown above).
He explained why in a recent interview with AFN.
"You know, what we've seen is Gavin Newsom pushing the most radical Marxist agenda that the country has ever seen in the classrooms of California schools, and we're not going to tolerate that woke agenda in Oklahoma."
Newsom has signed legislation affirming abortion access, requiring insurance coverage for in vitro fertilization (IVF), and enhancing behavioral health care—including coverage for psychiatric emergencies in Medi‑Cal. He also backed cannabis café permissions and restricted mobile phone usage in schools.
In 2022, Newsom (shown below, left) signed Senate Bill 107, making California the first "trans sanctuary state" by protecting minors’ access to gender‑affirming care and blocking enforcement of restrictive out‑of‑state laws.
Walters talked about Newsom's actions over the summer months.
“When we saw him mandating radical gender theory into the classrooms of California, we said ‘listen, any teachers that come here from California, we're going to make sure you're going to teach to Oklahoma standards, our academics in history and biology, so we have, we have a test for you.’"
He said his team worked with Prager University to develop this test. Prager says it’s mission is to promote American values through the creative use of digital media, technology and edu-tainment.
"Prager did a great job of helping us develop a test, and guess what, you're going to have to know what, what a female is, what a male is, the biological differences, because guess what? We actually teach based on the facts, in our biology -- in our classes here in Oklahoma. We also teach real American history. We want our kids to be patriotic. We want our kids to love this country,” Walters said.
Oklahoma will also test to make sure aspiring transferring teachers understand things like the Declaration of Independence, Constitution, and the Bill of Rights.

According to KOCO News in Oklahoma, The PragerU-administered test includes questions about the chambers of Congress, identifying U.S. senators and reciting the first three words of the Constitution. There also is a question about gender, requiring teachers to identify chromosome pairs determining sex.
“Our kids and our families are under attack. You've got radical Marxists and the teachers unions working with Governor Gavin Newsom. You saw this in the Biden administration. They are trying to turn kids against their parents. They're trying to turn kids against their families, against their faith, against this country, and so we are not going to allow these left-wing indoctrinators into our state to warp the brains of our kids."
