A professor of feminist studies thought it was a good idea to invite an adult film star – for the third time – to address students in a "groundbreaking" film studies course at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Students at UCSB who attended the lectures by Australian sex worker Angela White, according to the Daily Mail, "went wild" – and Laurie Higgins with Breakthrough Ideas thinks she knows why.
"Many, many students don't want intellectual rigor anymore; and many, many students are quite enamored with pornography," Higgins tells AFN. "And yet, a university invites a porn star in. And what makes it even more obscene, it is a woman professor who's invited her in." Dr. Constance Penley reportedly hosted the porn star's visit.
Higgins, a writer on cultural and education issues, exhorts Christians and conservative parents to voice their objections to this and other such anomalies when they arise.
"[When] we dismiss or ignore or say 'This is not that big of a deal' or 'This is part of the culture … every time we do that, it grows," she warns.
White, who is reported to have "covered up" for the classroom visit in early May, has run for a government seat in Australia and holds a degree in gender studies from the University of Melbourne. Higgins suspects taxpayer funds were probably used, in part, to pay a per diem for White's visit.
