A major porn purveyor has been tossed from Instagram, the popular social media platform, and an organization that helped get it tossed says children are safer and the website is better.

After the controversial company Porn Hub was removed from Instagram because it failed to meet the platform's standards, Lina Nealon of the National Center on Sexual Exploitation tells AFN the Instagram account showed sexually explicit photos. It even posted promotional ads encouraging people to get into the porn industry. That video on Instagram was called “Next Career Goal” in the ad.

“And what’s really important for people to know,” Nealon points out, “is that this Porn Hub account was accessible to young children.”

A third of Instagram's users are 13 to 24 years old. Nealon actually posed as a 13-year-old to set up an account and observed the material herself.

Porn Hub plans to appeal in order to restore its Instagram account but Nealon says the public can push back by encouraging Instagram to refuse to allow the controversial porn company access to the influential platform.

“We want to ensure that they do not reinstate,” she says.

Porn Hub is facing multiple lawsuits including by people who were minors when their videos were posted and shared, meaning the company allegedly profited from their terrible and traumatic circumstances.
