But an energy accountability group says Gates cannot just flip-flop and get away with it.
Gates' comments are from an October 28 New York Times article and are the opposite of what he was telling Bloomberg and other news outlets in 2020.
"Well, certainly, climate change will make entire ecosystems die off. It'll make parts of the world impossible to live in," said Gates in 2020.
Larry Behrens of Power the Future told AFN that Gates is responsible for billions of dollars going to a green agenda that Behrens said has harmed families.
Alternative energy technologies meant to help combat climate change by having fewer emissions are more expensive than traditional, fossil-fuel powered electricity sources that produce more emissions.
Supporters say green energy is necessary for the environment, but critics have long warned that things such as wind energy and solar power will drive up the cost of electricity for our economy.
"It's caused a whole lot of ill effect and now he has decided that maybe because the political winds have changed and the reality has set in as to what the green agenda causes, he's having somewhat of a change in heart," said Larry Behrens of Power the Future.
No new climate under the sun
New findings occur often in scientific fields. However, Behrens says there is no new information about climate that Bill Gates has today that he hasn't had for the past 20 years.
"The only thing that's new is we see electricity bills skyrocketing. We see Americans rejecting electric vehicles, we've seen them wholesale reject the green agenda, and that's why Bill Gates has decided to see the light on climate," said Behrens. "We've equated it to the arsonist suddenly deciding that he wants to run away from the fire, and that's exactly what Bill Gates is doing in this situation."
