Even electric vehicles not safe from environmental group

A left-wing environmental group is deflating tires on SUVs in some of America’s most liberal cities, in the name of fighting climate change, but a critic of the group calls that dumb public relations.

The U.K.-based group Tyre Extinguishers deflated the tires on about 40 SUVs in New York City last month, and also hit the same models in Chicago and in San Francisco, Fox News reported.

Climate Depot spokesman, Marc Morano, a skeptic of man-made climate change, says the tactic is not a science-based protest to bring attention to climate change.

“Second of all,” he says, “it's the worst P.R. you can imagine.”

The group is also targeting electric vehicles in those blue cities, which might seem like a doubly stupid thing to do considering the environmental movement supports electric vehicles and wants to see an end to gas-powered vehicles.

According to Morano, that does seem foolish – at first glance.

“But if you read it carefully,” he says of the group’s goals, “this is just the first step to try to ban private car ownership, and actually ban cars in cities, and also restrict them everywhere else.”

If that sounds like some communist-inspired collectivist thinking, the group states on its website that “bigger and bigger cars are dominating our towns and cities, and all so a privileged few can flaunt their wealth.”
