And the traditional abortion clinic is no longer the front line of the conflict.
"It's very clear when you think about the future of this battle to end abortions, we have to attack the leading cause of abortion, which is chemical abortion pills," Kristan Hawkins, president of Students for Life told AFN. "Every year in our country, likely over 700,000 children are being aborted using this deadly pill combination."
Hawkins said it should not be a surprise. Students for Life saw this coming for a number of years leading up to Roe v Wade's demise.
"We were the first organization kind of reporting it up the chain to the movement as California started trying to dispense these pills on campuses, and in the years following Roe's fall, since the Dobbs decision, it was very clear what their plan was all along to transition the abortion industry from these brick and mortar facilities doing surgical abortions to chemical abortion pills," said Hawkins.
"That's why you saw the Biden administration's weaponization of the government so quickly leading up to and immediately following the Dobbs case, which reversed Roe versus Wade,” she added.
During the Biden administration, the FDA removed what Hawkins called "common sense safety restrictions" from abortion drugs.
Hawkins and many other pro-life activists have been calling on the Trump administration to do away with these Biden-era policies. So far, no change has been made.
"We've also been demanding that the DOJ led by Attorney Gen. Pam Bondi do their job and tell the abortion industry that they're going to enforce the Comstock Act, which is still very much a law that's in effect which literally prevents the shipment of these pills across state borders.”
Chemical abortion undermines the laws put in place in pro-life states.
“States like Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, South Carolina, West Virginia (and others) moved swiftly in the wake of the Dobbs decision to ban abortion or heavily prevent abortion from happening in their state. That doesn't matter (now) because these drugs are illegally flowing into pro-life states, violating the federal Comstock Act, harming women and killing babies," said Hawkins.
Hawkins would also like to see more Republican attorneys general get involved and "demand that the Trump administration take action" on this issue.
"This is the leading cause of infant death in our country, and if you're not stopping chemical abortion pills, if you're not preventing the illegal trafficking of these drugs across state lines, (lawmakers) are not really pro-life," said Hawkins.
