Disappointment and dismay at Notre Dame over its pro-abortion stance show no signs of slowing down.

The famous Catholic university recently made news after a professor described by critics as an "abortion radical" was promoted to a leadership position.

Many pro-life Catholics were disgusted to learn Susan Ostermann (pictured below) was named director of the Liu Institute for Asia and Asian Studies.

Kristan Hawkins, president of Students for Life of America, says the professor deserves to be terminated, not promoted, just for serving on the Population Council. That group, which promotes family planning, worked with China’s communist government to implement its brutal one-child policy.

“The choice to put someone pro-abortion into leadership represents an absolute failure to practice what the church preaches and to train up the next generation of Catholic leadership,” Hawkins said.

Ostermann’s support for abortion stretches so far she says opposing abortion is racist and a form of white supremacy.

Steven Ertelt, editor of Life News, told American Family News the promotion of Ostermann hasn’t gone unnoticed. Students and faculty members, past and present, are publicly condemning it, he said.

“So it's really good," he stated, "to see that pro-life advocates of all stripes – students, professors, alumni – a lot of people are speaking up against this appointment saying, 'Hey, Notre Dame, if you're going to call yourself Catholic, live up to the pro-life values that the Catholic Church has.’”
