Planned Parenthood experiences increase in abortions despite multiple facility closures

Abortions are skyrocketing even with fewer Planned Parenthood clinics.

The finding comes from American Life League (ALL), which just released its 2025 Planned Parenthood Facilities Report. The study looks at how many facilities Planned Parenthood has opened and closed in the last few years.

After collecting data from the years 2022 to 2025, the report shows that in those years they've closed 66 Planned Parenthood facilities, and even in just this year, 22 of those facilities have been closed in the year 2025.

Katie Brown Xavios is the spokesperson and national director of American Life League.

"The bad news is even as these facilities are closing kind of at a record rate, they are performing more abortions now than they ever have been. So, it's kind of a good news/bad news thing, where, yes, they're closing facilities, but they've made such an effort to increase their telehealth and online presence that their abortions are skyrocketing now even with their clinics closing."

The report comes as pro-life individuals and organizations are calling on Congress to defund Planned Parenthood through the reconciliation bill. Planned Parenthood is not only going around the law to provide abortion pills, but they continue to annually receive an estimated $800 million through taxpayer funding. The House has already approved the measure, but the Senate has yet to give its approval.

Meanwhile, Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia) has opened an investigation into Planned Parenthood through the DOGE subcommittee of the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability. Greene is chair of that subcommittee.

Approximately 39% of Planned Parenthood’s annual funding comes from federal dollars. Greene’s investigation looks into where Planned Parenthood spends its money. Under the Hyde Amendment, federal money is not supposed to be used for abortions; however, there has been an 23% increase in abortions performed by Planned Parenthood in the last 10 years.

Xavios hopes American Life League's report will aide Greene in her efforts.

"We're asking people to use this report to write to her and say, 'thanks for what you're doing but use this data to really drive home that we need to defund Planned Parenthood.'"
