The AP, which many news outlets run for television, radio, and print news purposes, claims William Hern and his Boulder Abortion Clinic "served as a resource" for women who looked to terminate their pregnancies in the second or third trimester, sometimes for medical reasons.
After being in operation for more than 50 years, he tells the AP, "Closing is one of the most painful decisions of my life."
Carol Tobias of National Right to Life is not sad to see him go.

"This was, I believe, a so-called doctor taking advantage of difficult circumstances instead of trying to find compassionate care for both mother and child," she summarizes.
But the abortion industry and its allies in the media have placed Hern "on a pedestal."
"He is one of the very few in the country who is willing to do an abortion on unborn children at any time during pregnancy," Tobias notes.
Hern advertised his specialty in late-term abortions, or killing preborn babies of any age, even nine months.
The AP story includes some "heart-wrenching stories" of women who "needed" an abortion, but Tobias argues that any real doctor would do what they could to save the mother and her child in those situations.
In recent weeks, ProPublica won a Pulitzer for a story about Georgia women that they claim died from the state's pro-life laws restricting abortion. Pro-life organizations say the ProPublica story is wrong.
"They blamed Georgia's laws for the deaths of two women who took abortion drugs," Katie Glenn Daniel of Susan B. Anthony Pro Life America told AFN. "Both of them died from known complications associated with these dangerous drugs, and Georgia's law never prevented them from getting care in the emergency room to treat those deadly complications."
Tobias says there is a reason the AP is now trying to romanticize Hern's story:
"Mainstream media is a loud vocal supporter of the abortion industry."
She advises people to read anything or listen to anything from them with a question mark and recommends prayer over this situation.
"As much as we abhor people like Warren Hern doing abortions at any stage of pregnancy, that is, in fact, no different than an abortionist doing the abortion early in pregnancy," she asserts. "We just need to be praying for all of them – that their eyes would be open, that they would realize what they are doing is wrong and stop."
