Pro-life voters urged to help Gov. Youngkin protect unborn

Virginia’s pro-life community is urging pro-life voters to make it to the polls next week and help the pro-life governor protect the unborn.

Virginia’s current governor is Glenn Youngkin, a pro-life Republican who won election in 2021 in the purplish state in a narrow 50%-48% win over Terry McCauliffe.

A pro-life leader says many Ohio voters know about Issue 1 on the Nov. 7 ballot because the far-left abortion supporters have spent millions to turn  red-state Ohio into an abortion destination.

Mike Gonidakis of Ohio Right to Life tells AFN tens of millions of dollars have poured in from outside sources including from George Soros, the notorious billionaire whose political donations routinely end with violence and suffering.

A news investigation by news station WKYC found Soros’ lobbying group, Open Society Policy Center, contributed $3.5 million to an Ohio abortion group named Ohioans United for Reproductive Rights. That group has received a total of $28.7 million in donations from Soros and other far-left groups, including a Washington, D.C. firm named the Sixteen Thirty Fund that contributed $5.3 million.

Just how radical are the abortion groups trying to pass Issue 1? One group called Abortion Fund of Ohio issued a “solidarity statement” for Palestinians after the Oct. 7 attack by Hamas.

Supporters of Issue 1 have outspent their pro-life opponents two to one, WKYC reported.

Olivia Turner of the Virginia Society for Human Life tells AFN abortion-supporting Democrats want an “open door” for abortion in their state.

“They're pushing an agenda that would keep abortion legal in Virginia through all nine months of pregnancy, even up to birth,” she warns, “and allowing babies to be killed afterwards if they survive an abortion.”

Virginia's pro-life legislators, meanwhile, want to send Gov. Youngkin a 15-week abortion ban to sign.

In the state legislature, Republicans currently have a four-seat majority in the House of Delegates while Democrats control the Senate by five seats. All of those seats are on the ballot next week.

Turner says there are no pro-life Democrats running in any of the Senate and House of Delegates races.

“So I would advise folks quite clearly that the way to support the pro-life cause in Virginia is to support our pro-life Republican candidates,” she says.
