Goal of men's march: Making abortion 'unthinkable'

Traffic could be tied up Saturday in America's capital because of men taking responsibility for life.

The "National Men's March to Abolish Abortion and Rally for Personhood" is sponsored by The Station of the Cross Catholic Media Network. Spokesman Jim Havens tells AFN the purpose is for men to repent of their role in abortion.

"To come to grips with this, to face reality, and to take responsibility for our role in what we're called to do here," he explains. "[We men need] to repent of some of the wrongs we've committed and some of the good we haven't done – and then to make a new resolve to do more."

And more can be done with patience, he continues, drawing a comparison between abortion and slavery.

"That was something that was once baked into the culture of this nation – wrongly so – and nobody ever thought it would be illegal or unthinkable," says Havens. "They could never conceive that it would be abolished and yet there were still abolitionists working to try to get there … and then ultimately it was made illegal and then over time it's become unthinkable."

The same can be done to abortion, he argues, eventually making it illegal – and making the killing of preborn babies unthinkable. Havens vows the men in the Washington, DC, march will own up to their responsibilities and march towards a solution.
