NM activist: Time to shut down training ground for abortionists

A New Mexico abortion clinic has racked up another injury … and a pro-life group wants the facility to close.

Abortion Free New Mexico reported in June that the University of New Mexico's free-standing abortion clinic had sent five post-abortion patients to hospitals for emergency treatment so far this year. The pro-life group's Tara Shaver shares that a clinic insider has now informed them a sixth patient has been sent to an emergency room.

"They're all about training up-and-coming abortionists as well," Shaver says. "They're trying to get everyday doctors and OBGYNs to, as part of their medical training, learn to do abortions because they want more OBGYNs and other family practice doctors to do abortions in their private practice once they leave the university."

Shaver says it's time for UNM, the state's largest university, to take action.

"We are asking for people to contact the UNM Board of Regents," Shaver explains. "They are the authority there at the University of New Mexico and we would like for them to investigate. We would like for them to ultimately close the doors of that abortion facility. There's no reason why UNM has to have their name on an abortion facility."

State health officials in New Mexico have legalized abortion up to birth – and typically do not investigate such incidents.
