Laura Bogley of Maryland Right to Life reports that Democrats have submitted a constitutional amendment that would guarantee so-called reproductive freedom. HB705/SB798 has been defeated in three previous sessions, but pro-abortion extremists have made it their top priority for 2023. If enacted by ballot, it would threaten to close pro-life pregnancy centers, deny medical providers their rights of conscience, and taxpayers would foot the bill for abortion up to birth.
Another proposal in the package of bills would allow non-physicians to perform surgical and chemical abortions.
"They've been expanding the scope of practice to allow non-physicians to commit abortions, both surgical and chemical," Bogley explains. "This is nurses and other even non-medical certified providers of abortion."
And to ensure that every woman can obtain an abortion, she says HB 477 goes a step further, forcing county high schools to become active partners with the abortion industry – also using taxpayer funds.
"They've been expanding who can prescribe chemical abortion pills and expanding who can dispense chemical abortion pills, including entertaining the possibility of having them be dispensed in school-based health centers to minor girls during the school day without parental knowledge or consent," the pro-lifer details.
College students would be similarly serviced.
Additionally, to make sure there are plenty of abortionists available to terminate babies, Democrats want to make Maryland a safe haven for any abortion provider who faces civil, administrative, or criminal charges in a pro-life state. Presumably, they would have to pay their own moving expenses, though.
Governor Wes Moore (D) (pictured above) recently announced his support for the abortion bills. Meanwhile, Maryland Right to Life is asking parents and pro-life voters of the state to let their elected officials know that such "dangerous and predatory" measures have no place there.
