Harris to Hispanics: Dems need your votes, but society needs fewer of you

One expert says the Democratic Party's strategy to use abortion to attract the Latino vote might be a pipe dream.

AFN has noted that Vice President Kamala Harris has been conducting meetings with various officials to promote access to abortion, including with top Hispanic lawmakers from seven states. The topic of discussion is how to increase availability of abortion.

Rojas, Raimundo (NRLC) Rojas

"I've watched these representatives of organizations who are founded by wealthy white women come into our community, see the economic disparity, and the only conclusion that they have ever, ever come up with is that we need fewer Hispanics; we need to tell them to abort and to reduce their numbers," relays Raimundo Rojas, director of Hispanic outreach for the National Right to Life Committee (NRLC). "That doesn't sell."

He says that push follows Margaret Sanger's view of minority populations as "weeds" that must be eliminated from society. Rojas asserts that Hispanics will not go for that, but they will vote on the basis of their needs -- like jobs, baby food, school clothing, and gasoline expenses.

"These are the things that are going to motivate Hispanics to vote in this election, not some far-fetched, whacked-out plan by Kamala Harris," the pro-lifer continues. "This is wishful thinking on her and her ilk [to] believe Hispanics are going to be motivated because of abortion to vote for Democrats. That's simply just not true."

He also believes Hispanics will recall they had the lowest unemployment rates ever during Trump's presidency and that he pursued pro-life policies that showed he valued the Latino community as people and not merely as potential votes.
