The law bans most abortions after six weeks but a three-judge panel this week, at the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals, upheld a lower court ruling that temporarily blocks enforcement of the law.
"The entire court hasn't heard it," says Holly Gatling, executive director of South Carolina Citizens for Life. "We've been through this before. This isn't our first rodeo."
Dave Wilson, president of Palmetto Family Council, says his organization is meeting with Attorney General Alan Wilson to discuss the legal steps they can take to move forward.
"This has the potential to end 98.5% of all abortions in South Carolina," Wilson tells AFN. “That is saving nearly 5,000 lives and that is an important step that needs to be taken."
"We're in this for the long-haul," says Gatling. "We're in this for the babies, and we will never give up."
