According to multiple counts and state investigations, Joe Biden officially won Georgia's electoral votes by about 11,779 votes overall, but President Donald Trump is among many who remain convinced the election was stolen from him through a combination of factors — including changes to election laws during the COVID-19 pandemic, Big Tech influence, and unconstitutional election procedures in several states.
Fulton County, Georgia was perhaps ground zero.
In 2023, the Georgia State Election Board acknowledged there were irregularities and errors, but not enough to overturn the certified 2020 presidential election results, and the president's allegations were dismissed.
That same year, the Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis (D) indicted Trump and others for their alleged efforts to overturn Georgia's 2020 election results. The charges included conspiracy and racketeering to change the certified outcome. A judge dismissed this case in late 2025, concluding it should be handled in federal court or was legally unworkable after leadership changes in the prosecution.
Last week, the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) executed a court- authorized search warrant at the elections office near Atlanta, with Trump asserting that "people will soon be prosecuted for what they did."
Agents seized hundreds of boxes of 2020 election records, and investigators have so far declined to comment publicly about what the seized materials show as the probe is ongoing.
Washington Times columnist Robert Knight, who wrote a book examining the 2020 U.S. presidential election, says, "This is long overdue."
"For six years, Fulton County has been fighting to prevent the voter records from being examined by state officials and by other people," he said.
In addition to the citizen affidavits claiming vote fraud was committed in Fulton County, he remembers the video footage taken inside the arena where vote tabulation was taking place.
"They were counting votes until there was an alleged water leak, and they sent all the Republican watchers home, and then suddenly, they pulled out all these cases out from under tables and began feeding them through voting machines," he details.
If you ask about it today, they will say that was rebutted and explained, but Knight has never found an explanation for that.
"This is one of those 'don't believe your lying eyes' moments," he says.
While Fulton County officials plan to challenge the legality of the warrant and the seizure in court, the Trump administration wants to get to the bottom of what happened in 2020 and prevent similar problems in future elections.
