The war of words between the Canadian prime minister and President Donald Trump has grown in intensity. During the recent World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Carney condemned coercion by great powers on smaller countries without mentioning Trump's name, reports the Associated Press.
Trump responded by saying that "Canada lives because of the United States. Remember that, Mark, the next time you make your statements." Carney then said that "Canada doesn't live because of the United States. Canada thrives because we are Canadian." Trump then revoked his invitation to Carney to join his Gaza Board of Peace.
Dr. Charles McVety is president of Canada Christian College. He says that Trump's move is justified.
"Mark Carney has decided to make Canada a communist Chinese partnership and go even further to make Canada a Qatar jihadist partnership, formally, literally. Then he went to Davos and said that the future belongs to middle countries like Canada,” informs McVety. “Donald Trump is not having any of it, and the cold war with Canada has begun."

It does not help that, according to CBC News, Pierre Poilievre, leader of Canada’s Conservative Party, praised Carney’s speech. Meanwhile, the prime minister is a member of the Liberal Party of Canada. That did not stop Poilievre from saying Carney’s speech was “well-crafted and eloquently delivered.”
Poilievre added that the Conservative party is willing to work with Carney to fight against U.S. tariffs and reach the objectives of Canada being more independent and working with like-minded countries.
McVety restates that Poilievre’s reaction to Carney's speech is perhaps the most shocking to come out of all of this.
"Praising Carney's speech at Davos as brilliant and thoughtful and eloquent and shockingly supportive, saying that the Conservative Party is willing to work with the Liberals on this measure," says McVety.
McVety predicts that Canada is going to suffer if Carney's policies move forward.
