Trump backed into corner regarding Iran, says defense analyst

An Iranian born national defense analyst believes that President Donald Trump has backed himself into a corner where he has no other choice but to take military action against Iran.

President Trump has a sent a message to the beleaguered citizens of Iran that help is on the way. What that help looks like in coming days, however, is a closely guarded secret for now in the White House and the Pentagon, reports Associated Press. Thousands of valiant Iranian citizens are out protesting the Khamenei regime, which has responded by mercilessly gunning them down in the streets.

Khamenei gained control of Iran around 47 years ago, and the current protest against the regime has not been the only one. While Iranians tried to fight before in 2022, economic hardships have spurred the recent outbreak of unrest, at a time when it is believed that the Khamenei government is at its weakest.

Trump’s Truth Social post encourages Iranian Patriots to keep protesting and to “save the names of the killers and abusers,” saying that they “will pay a big price.” He also announced that any meetings with Iranian official have since been canceled in the wake of “senseless killing of protestors” and will not resume until it stops. This comes after the president became aware that the death toll has reached around 12,000 and continues to grow.

Sangari, Sargis (retired Army LTC) Sangari

Retired Army Lt. Colonel Sargis Sangari was born in Iran and has a unique perspective on the region.

"It's unfortunate. I think that Trump has been backed into a corner, that he has to use military options in the region. And I don't think Trump wanted to initiate most reaction," says Sangari.

Sangari says that if the U.S. takes military action then Iran can retaliate.

"The Iranians are basically going to hit all the Gulf nations, including our allies in the region and possibly even the oil refineries in Saudi Arabia. So, he has no choice, possibly, but to take some action. Otherwise, he'll come across as being weak," states Sangari.
