Much has been made about Democrat Jasmine Crockett's announcement that she is running for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Republican John Cornyn.
A recent poll by Change Research shows Crockett trailing both Cornyn and Attorney General Ken Paxton who is challenging the incumbent in the GOP primary.
“When asked in general whether they would support a Republican or Democratic candidate, 50% support a Republican candidate while 41% support a Democrat. Representative Crockett does not change the underlying partisan dynamic in this state where a Democratic candidate has not won a statewide race for any office since 1994,” writes Change Research.
Cathie Adams is a former chairman of the Republican Party of Texas and serves as a second vice president of Eagle Forum. She believes there is a third Republican, Congressman Wesley Hunt, who is actually the best choice for pro-family conservatives.
"Wesley Hunt has done an outstanding job. He is former military, a captain in the U.S. Army. The man has great credibility in the state of Texas, and I think that he can rise to the top and I do hope that he wins the race."
Many see Hunt as a fresh, younger alternative to long-time politicians like Cornyn and Paxton.
He appeals to both mainstream and MAGA-aligned Republicans and could bridge those divides, the Texas Tribune writes.
Hunt's support is surging. A recent poll by McLaughlin and Associates shows him leading both Cornyn and Paxton in head-to-head GOP matchups.
He has been endorsed by President Donald Trump.
"Wesley Hunt has positive name recognition in his district. He is gaining positive name recognition in the state of Texas, and I think that it's not going to take but one debate that we will see that Wesley Hunt is the best qualified person for this race."
