Conservative activist astonished Democrats still back Jones for Virginia attorney general

A conservative activist says it's astonishing that Democrats are not calling for their Virginia attorney general candidate to drop out of the race in the wake of his remarks about murdering a Republican rival and his children.

Despite calls for him to withdrawal, Democrat attorney general candidate Jay Jones has refused to drop out of the race. No major Democrat is demanding that he do so in the wake of the revelation that in 2022 Jones sent out a text fantasizing about murdering a political opponent.

The AP reported that the text message was sent by Jones to a Republican lawmaker regarding the Todd Gilbert, the former Virginia House Speaker. In the message, he wrote, “Three people two bullets ... Gilbert, hitler, and pol pot ... Gilbert gets two bullets to the head.”

Breitbart listed many of the Democratic individuals and groups who continue their support of Jones despite his disturbing comments, which were not just about Gilbert. Jones reportedly also referenced Gilbert's children dying in their mother's arms.

Jones has since apologized for his violent rhetoric, but Republicans and conservatives are dumbfounded on why Virginians will still support him.

Gary Bauer, chairman of the Campaign for Working Families, mentioned this story in one his End of the Day Report. He states that it is just astonishing on so many levels that this sick man is able to make the comments that he did about Gilbert.

“First of all, this kind of just pure, unadulterated hatred — it's not just thugs in the streets; it's elected Democrat Party officials. And here we have it in the state of Virginia," says Bauer.

Bauer contends that this is a valid argument against early voting.

“Four hundred thousand people had already voted in Virginia before this news broke. How can they possibly have made a legitimate decision when they voted before this scandal broke?" continues Bauer.

Bauer asks what would happen if a Republican had issued those hateful comments.

"The media would not be able to stop reporting it. They would do specials on it. Every Republican in the country would be asked over and over again ‘why aren't you demanding that he drop out of the race’?” says Bauer.

Bauer reports that none of that is happening.

“They're trying to sweep this under the rug as quickly as they can, and it would be a tragedy if they succeed in doing so,” concludes Bauer.
