“We have to recognize her for what she is,” Kevin McGary, chairman of the Frederick Douglas Foundation of California, tells AFN. “She's a card-carrying avowed communist and has been for a long time."
Bass, who is serving her first term as L.A. mayor, is using that authority to demand Immigration and Customs Enforcement stop its sweeping immigration raids and leave the city.
"They need to leave, and they need to leave right now,” Bass complained to reporters last week. “They need to leave because this is unacceptable!"
ICE agents, however, are not leaving anytime soon. With an order from the White House to locate and arrest 3,000 illegals a day for deportation, ICE is predictably drawn to Los Angeles County. That's because the number of illegal aliens there is estimated to be more than 900,000, or about 10% of the total population.
With ICE agents conducting raids all over the sprawling city, street protests and violent riots broke out in mid-June that led to arrests, injured police officers and a city curfew.
When those ICE agents set up operations around the city’s MacArthur Park on July 7, Mayor Bass appeared at the park and made her now-famous demand that ICE agents pack up and leave.
Bass has also included the City of Los Angeles in a class-action lawsuit to fight the ICE raids, and she is praising immigrant rights groups that are offering cash assistance to illegals who are afraid to leave their homes over fear of arrest and deportation.
According to McGary, Bass is not just protecting illegal immigrants in the city but is showing her true stripes as a committed Marxist.
“She went to Cuba multiple times,” he says of Bass, “and has extolled praises on communist governments around the world, really, for quite some time.”
Democrats such as Bass are rather famous for schmoozing with Fidel Castro, the late Cuban dictator, but the current L.A. mayor visited the communist-run island numerous times as an American member of the Venceremos Brigade. That communist group, which was formed by Castro’s own government, has invited starry-eyed Leftists to Cuba ever since the 1960s.
Bass’s membership in Venceremos is no secret among Democrats, including the Biden campaign. It expressed concern about her affiliation when she was considered for Joe Biden’s running mate in 2000, according to a story by the liberal Atlantic.
According to McGary, Bass’s communist ideology explains why she is defending illegal aliens in a city overrun with illegal aliens rather than defending the rule of law.
That ideology might also explain why Bass described the ICE raid near MacArthur Park, which is known for being a seedy area, as a cruel military attack at a city park where children were enjoying a soccer game.
"MacArthur Park is a vile, filthy, drug infested, gang [expletive] worthy of Karen Bass," actor James Woods posted on X. "This commie loser would be happier in Cuba."
“It's time for California's, especially, to wake up to the communists amongst us,” McGary warns.
