In an age where conspiracy theories spring up like the grass in March, this one stands out for its audacity and probability.
“I will go to my grave believing that the debate was intentional. They knew when the nomination was going to be, and they knew they needed to deal with this with an opportunity to make a change if it was necessary,” said Todd on his podcast late last week.
Gary Bauer of American Values says Biden's handlers must have known the president was compromised. It's possible they saw the debate as the chance to make a change at the top.
“I certainly think there were elements in the White House that could see the handwriting on the wall and thought that doing an inexplicably early debate would give them the chance to still be able to do something else,” Bauer told AFN.
He says there are a couple of other hints. The sitting president of the United States needed ten whole days to prepare for the debate. When the debate was finished, Biden’s performance, in its original form, hung like a mist.

“None of the people on his side went into the press room after the debate to try to spin it,” Bauer said.
Even assuming they did throw Biden under the bus, the plan didn't work. Democrats were stunned by the thought that their meticulous work in undermining Trump seemed destined for failure.
“They could figure out that Biden was having trouble, but they still were in denial on the very idea that Donald Trump could win again after everything we've done?”
