A CBS News/YouGov rapid response poll to President Donald Trump’s speech to joint chambers of Congress found that 76% of viewers approved.
Almost 70% of those who responded to a CNN/SSRS poll found the speech to be “net positive.”
In the CBS/YouGov poll, 47% of those who viewed the speech were not Republicans.
Half the chamber was not filled with Republicans, and those unhappy, disruptive Democrats were easy to spot Tuesday night.
They heckled, one was removed, and almost all remained seated even in the most bipartisan of moments: Trump’s interaction with a child cancer survivor; guaranteeing that a high school senior in attendance would be admitted to West Point, or his announcement that a senior Islamic State official responsible for the bombing during the chaotic U.S. evacuation of Afghanistan in 2021 had been caught.
If you can’t cheer for a child with cancer, what do today’s Democrats really have in common with mainstream America?
The answer is not much, Blaze host Steve Deace said on American Family Radio Wednesday.
“The No. 1 thing that Trump's presentation last night proved is that the Democratic Party simply has nothing in common with the average American," he said, "unless you're one of the few million people that watches MSNBC or the affluent white women with beta husbands who watch The View. The rest of America, we've got nothing for you."
Dozens of Democratic congresswomen wore pink to protest Trump’s policies and to show their support for women and families.
It has been pointed out by many, however, that Senate Democrats didn't show their support for girls and women late Monday when none of them joined Republicans in voting to end the filibuster that denied a floor vote for a bill that would codify Trump’s executive order banning biological males from girls’ and women’s sports.
Other Democrats wore yellow and blue to show their support for Ukraine. Later in his speech, Trump shared that he had received a letter from Volodymyr Zelenskyy in which the Ukraine president changed his stance from last Friday’s explosive Oval Office meeting.
Zelenskyy expressed gratitude for U.S. support in the war against Russia and promised to work under Trump’s leadership to achieve lasting peace, Trump said.
Zelenskyy said the same things in an X post earlier Tuesday.
Deace: ‘Normal America’ abandoned by Dems
For Democrats, no ground was common with Trump.
The party has completely abandoned “normal” America, Deace said, beginning with his Uber driver who kept a MAGA cap on his dashboard in a recent visit to Dallas.
“He's just like, ‘Hey, man, things suck. You got to do something about it, and I like what this guy has to say, and I’m putting his hat on my dashboard. That guy, if he was watching last night, what he saw is a political party basically say to him, ‘we hate your guts. We have nothing in common, and we're telling you this.'”
American support for Trump doesn’t mean its largest cities are handing the keys to conservatives.

But it may mean they’re looking for alternatives within the Democratic Party that dominates their local politics.
The President sets the tone of his speech, and moments within are often emotional and heartwarming.
Wednesday, a Republican Congress and the U.S. president went back to making the sausage, always a tricky process.
Even so, Deace says he senses “a tide turning” away from Democrats who are showing they really are who Republicans have said they are.
Sixty-four of the 100 largest American cities have Democrats as mayors, though internal dynamics with the party suggest a possible move to the middle.
Deace has his doubts. He says Democrats seem too willing to cede the cultural ground to Trump and Republicans.
They’re saying, “we only represent what are the particular viewpoints of those who watch Rachel Maddow and Joy Behar,” Deace said.
The far-left wing has taken the party far away from the days of President Bill Clinton, who famously pored over polling to see what mattered most to the most people.
“They would have gotten rid of all the men in women’s sports then called us transphobes anyway,” Deace said.
But times are different.
“This is a hammer-and-sickle, fist in the air, in-your-face, Soviet-style revolution,” Deace said.
Reaction to Trump’s speech shows Americans are still behind him, John Cardillo, a GOP strategist, told show host Jenna Ellis.
“These are our left-leaning networks who most likely have a centrist or a left-leaning poll sample, so that tells you all you need to know. There’s overwhelming support from the American people. I would argue 100% approval from the right and center-right,” he said.
Democrats show no love for cancer survivor
Democrats exposed themselves by not showing support for the most basic things that benefit the American people, he said.
“These demons couldn't even bring themselves to applaud a little boy with cancer who was made an honorary Secret Service agent," Cardillo said of the night's most touching moment.
"They couldn't suspend their anger and their misery that they're not going to be able to destroy America for 30 seconds to applaud an adorable little boy suffering from a horrible disease," he added.
Seven years ago, 13-year-old DJ Daniel was told his brain cancer might kill him within five months. Now he dreams of being a police officer.
Trump informed the astonished young teenager he was ordering Secret Service Director Sean Curran to make him an honorary member of the service.
Curran, now famous for rushing to Trump's aid in Pennsylvania, showed up to make it official and Daniel launched at him with a big, thankful hug.
Despite the moment, which brought many to tears, some Democrats remained seated and looked unhappy and even upset.
“If that doesn’t tell America all they need to know about Democrats, I don’t know what does,” Cardillo said.
