UPDATE: Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine announced today that his lieutenant governor, Jon Husted, will succeed J.D. Vance in the U.S. Senate. (Details) Ohio activist Tom Zawistowski, contacted after the Husted appointment, described him as "a secure vote for the 'Make America Great Again, America First' agenda."
On Thursday Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis named Florida Attorney Gen. Ashley Moody to fill the U.S. Senate seat vacated by Marco Rubio who is expected to be confirmed as Donald Trump's Secretary of State.
But in Ohio, Gov. Mike DeWine has still not named the Senate replacement for Vice-President elect J.D. Vance (shown left of Trump at top).
Tom Zawistowski is president of the Ohio-based We the People Convention. He believes that it will be Ohio Lt. Gov. Jon Husted.
"It appears that when DeWine and Husted went to Mar-a-Lago to meet with President Trump the message was that the Vivek Ramaswamy wants to run for governor and that Trump would endorse him, and so therefore Husted would have a very difficult time in the primary defeating Vivek Ramaswamy if Trump endorses Ramaswamy."
Zawistowski doesn't know what DeWine (shown above) is waiting for.
"He's had forever to think about it, and my concern is they're interviewing Trump's nominees right this minute. I want Jon Husted, if he's the guy sitting there, to be able to vote, and I'm just kind of shocked that he hasn't done it yet."
Zawistowski says Husted is a safe pick.
"It's pretty clear that as senator he would vote the way that J.D. Vance and Bernie Marino and President Trump would want him to. So, I don't feel there's any danger in him. He’s not going to vote against Trump, I can guarantee you that."
