Trump return has some hoping for change of power in Iran

An author and terrorism expert hopes that Donald Trump's second term will help bring about the end of the radical Islamic regime in Iran.

Much has been made of the fact that during his first term, President Trump was tough on Tehran, pulling out of the horrible 2015 Iran nuclear deal brokered by Barack Obama, listing the regime as a terrorist entity, and assassinating terrorist leader Gen.Qassem Soleimani.

But with the arrival of Joe Biden everything changed, and Iran was given access to $6 billion in previously frozen assets.

Iran has used the money to pay proxies like Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houthis to wage war against Israel.

Now with the eminent return of Trump, Iranian freedom fighters are hoping for regime change.
Robert Spencer is director of Jihad Watch.

Spencer, Robert (Jihad Watch) Spencer

"Absolutely, the regime might have already fallen if Joe Biden hadn't propped it up in a frankly and obviously treasonous act. Now, the regime still has probably most of that money, and so it's going to be tough. While Trump was president before, they were on the ropes economically and they were facing national uprisings and very well could have fallen. So, we hope that Trump will be able to bring that about again."

Spencer believes that Trump is much more clear-eyed about the Iranian regime.

"He actually is an American patriot and not a traitor, and so we certainly can hope that this will be the end of the Iranian regime altogether."
