In Democrats' crosshairs, no cruise to the finish line for long-time senator from Texas

A former Texas Republican leader says Sen. Ted Cruz has a narrow lead in a recent poll because of a massive amount of cash being poured into his opponent's coffer.

The Texas lawmaker is a frequent commentator on the Fox News Channel, and invariably Cruz brings up the fact that Chuck Schumer and the Democrat machine are pouring millions of dollars into an effort to unseat him.

Indeed, Cruz is the only Republican among a list of ten incumbent senators who is considered vulnerable in 2024. His opponent is Democrat Congressman Colin Allred, who in a recent poll released by the University of Houston, only trailed Cruz by 2 points.

Cruz, perhaps, appeared vulnerable to Democrats after narrowly defeating Beto O'Rourke 50.9-48.3 in 2018.

Cathie Adams is a former chairman of the Republican Party of Texas. She says the money is clearly having an effect.

“It’s kind of typical across the country with Democrats, I mean, look at Kamala's coffers. She's got money that there's no way in the world is rightly earned other than they're dumping money in because they want to steal another election.

“I just don't know what kind of supplies we're going to have, and I think the next month, like in October, we're going to see what it is."

Supplies are not a worry for Allred, who is very much like Kamala Harris when it comes to money, Adams says.

“Allred has got all kinds of money. I don't think he's even coming across well. It's like the same thing with Trump. Is Trump in trouble because Kamala has so darn much money? I cannot imagine."
