The agents put on administrative leave, says a Fox News report, include one member of Trump's personal protective team and four members of the Secret Service's Pittsburgh Field Office – including the special agent in charge.
The move comes as the Secret Service is undergoing multiple inquiries into the shooting and its handling of security measures at the Butler rally – including an internal review, congressional investigations, and an independent commission empaneled by the Department of Homeland Security.
Fox News reports it has also learned that the threat to Trump from Iran was communicated internally at the Secret Service prior to the Butler event and the investigation is likely looking into why the Butler event went forward, given the threat.
Kimberly Cheatle – who was director of the USSS at the time of the assassination attempt – resigned from her position less than two weeks later.
