Media complicit in illegal campaign move

A columnist says the Biden campaign seems to be skirting campaign finance laws by coordinating strategy with friendly Super PACs and using the press as the go-between.

Federal Election Commission (FEC) rules make coordination between a campaign and aligned Super PACs flush with cash difficult—and illegal. The three-pronged test to determine coordination, however, does not include planting useful data or messaging instructions in media stories, nor does it cover what can be made to appear as an accidental leak.

But the Biden campaign appears to have purposefully leaked polling data and internal communications to POLITICO, which ran the plan in detail to be picked up by the Democrat-aligned pollical action committees (PACs).

Washington Times columnist Robert Knight says the mainstream media is fully complicit.

"When it comes to somebody like President Biden, who's a Democrat, it's far easier to use this strategy, because the media are already in the tank for him," he submits.

In the case of the POLITICO article, the Biden campaign leaked internal poling indicating that highlighting President Trump's criminal convictions would hurt him in the polls.

"In essence, POLITICO ran a story that breaks down Biden's presidential campaign committee's messaging, data, and advertising pitches regarding the Trump verdict, point-by-point," The National Pulse reports. "The tell? It quotes generously from anonymous Biden campaign sources, including campaign pollsters."

"The Democrats set the whole thing up," says Knight. "They're prosecuting him in a total of four jurisdictions by Democrat prosecutors, before Democrat judges, and with Democrat jury pools, and people know that."

Though one poll from The New York Times/ Siena College did find Biden gaining ground on Trump, for the most part, anything having to do with Trump's overtly political prosecution has actually helped him in the polls.

So, there may be months to go before November, but as Knight has told AFN, it is going to be difficult for Biden to come back.

"I think if it's a fair election, and the Democrats don't get away with the amount of vote fraud they're accustomed to, I think Trump will win in a walk," the columnist predicts.
