Ever since the state’s Democratic primary in February, political observers have been speculating about the 13% of primary voters who voted “uncommitted” in a sign of protest against Biden and his support of Israel’s war against Hamas.
The protest votes were centered in Arab-American communities in the Ann Arbor area and in Detroit’s suburbs.
Ron Armstrong, president of Stand Up Michigan, tells AFN there is still speculation the Muslim population will abandon Biden over the White House support for Israel.
“I don't buy that for a minute,” he says.
The voters will choose Biden on Election Day because they are anti-Israel and pro-Hamas, Armstrong says, and the reason they will stick with Biden is Donald Trump.
“I think to believe that, in the end, they're going to come over and vote for Trump is absolute lunacy. It's not happening,” he says. “These people are fully aware of what Trump will do and what his administration will do.”
