Prediction: Independent-minded GOP voters won't be persuaded by endorsements

Reacting to recent high-profile endorsements for Ron DeSantis and Nikki Haley, a conservative activist insists political endorsements are often overrated news in a presidential election.

New Hampshire Republican Governor John Sununu recently endorsed Nikki Haley, who is trying to convince GOP voters in The Granite State to support her in the nation's first primary.

Similarly, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds endorsed Florida Governor Ron DeSantis before that state chooses a nominee in its closely-watched January caucuses.

Gary Bauer, chairman of the Campaign for Working Families, says it is doubtful voters decide their choice by a political endorsement.

“These are independent voters in Iowa,” he says. “I know. I met a lot of them and the same thing with New Hampshire. They're going to reach their own conclusions."

Another factor to consider, Bauer adds, is Trump's runaway poll numbers.

"I think a good bit of the party establishment, even some conservatives in the party," he observes, "still don't understand the appeal of Donald Trump to millions of Americans who don't want just business as usual."
