Public encouraged to sign 'thank you' petition for Tuberville

Alabama’s famous coach-turned-senator Tommy Tuberville is being praised for making a tough call: Standing up for the pro-life cause in light of accusations he is hurting military readiness.

Tuberville is being vilified by Democrats and the news media for holding up about 200 military promotions until the Pentagon reverses an illegal policy that gives female servicemembers paid leave and pays for travel expenses if they travel to terminate a pregnancy.

That policy violates current federal law, U.S. Code 1093. It states that funds available to the Department of Defense may not be used to perform abortions except where the life of the mother would be endangered if the fetus were carried to term, or in case of which the pregnancy was the result of rape or incest.

Walker Wildmon, vice president of the American Family Association, says AFA is encouraging the public to sign a “thank you” petition to Sen. Tuberville to tell him the public supports his stance. "

Please know I am deeply grateful for your heroic stand against the Biden policy providing tax dollars to help provide abortions to military personnel,” states the petition, which is nearing 30,000 signatures.

The purpose of the U.S. armed forces is to defend the homeland and to fight aggression from our enemies, such as the Chinese Communist Party, Wildmon says. The goal of the Biden administration appears to be left-wing ideology, including support for abortion, he says.

“And so we're just thankful,” he tells AFN, “that Sen. Tuberville is fighting back and is holding his ground."

Despite claims Sen. Tuberville is harming military readiness, the U.S. Senate can bring military promotions to the floor - one at a time - for a floor vote but Senate Democrats have not done so.
