IRS move on Hunter Biden laptop case smells like more cover-up: Bauer

A longtime conservative political activist in Washington, DC, says if what is being reported about the Internal Revenue Service is true, the response from a high-profile GOP lawmaker is likely to resemble that of a "junkyard dog."

On Monday, the IRS closed the doors on an investigation of Hunter Biden and his business dealings, leaving the future of the probe in question, according to The New York Post. A whistleblower, who is described as an IRS criminal supervisory special agent, says at least one senior political appointee in the agency is covering up criminal activity in the Biden family – alleged to include influence peddling and money laundering.

Gary Bauer of American Values says the FBI is often weaponized against conservatives, but it shields liberals. "On its face, this appears to be a pretty brazen effort by the Biden administration to cover up the wrongdoing of the Biden family," he tells AFN.

The Post is reporting removal of the investigative team as "clearly retaliatory" against the whistleblower. Bauer warns that's likely to anger Iowa Republican Senator Chuck Grassley.

"If what just happened at the IRS is what we think it is, they have just turned Senator Grassley into a junkyard dog," he states.

But Bauer says the bigger picture is that politicizing the Justice Department puts the American experiment at risk. "There are powerful forces trying to take away every right we are guaranteed in the Bill of Rights," he emphasizes. "So, every American that cares about these things must stand up and speak out.

And he concludes with this ominous warning: "The next one to three years will determine whether … our children and grandchildren have the kind of life that we did as free men and women – or whether they will be condemned to lesser lives."
