Gov. Abbott insists that New York City's sanctuary status makes it an ideal destination for illegal migrants, but New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) is blasting the Republican governor for sending another busload of illegals from Texas to The Big Apple. Mayor Adams claims they are being used as political pawns.
In Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser (D) had requested federally funded National Guard troops to be dispatched to the capital for assistance with the migrant problem, but Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin denied that request.
"I, for one, am grateful that our governor is making a statement … that 'Yes, Washington, D.C. [or New York] -- you want this kind of policy? See how you can deal with it,'" comments Cathie Adams, a former chairman of the Republican Party of Texas. "For goodness' sake -- this is only one busload of people. What about the tens of thousands that are pouring across our border every month?"
She asserts that when it comes to dealing with illegal immigrants, Texas has it far worse than either New York City or Washington, D.C.
"I don't think that there is one place in Texas that is not overwhelmed because of an open border," Adams states.
She adds that people are not only coming in from Mexico and Central America; they are coming in from every nation around the world, including the Middle East and China.
"It is a dire situation," Adams concludes.
