Texas Values: Long list of issues at state capitol

Texas lawmakers are returning to the state capitol to make some major decisions, and a watchdog political group says that list is a long one.

As with most state legislatures, there was a rush of bills at the end of the session that didn't make it but Gov. Greg Abbott has called a special session that begins Thursday, June 8, to address them.

Jonathan Covey of Texas Values says there are a number of proposals that should be considered, including the movement to protect female-only sports. And there are several more, he adds.

“Stopping cities and government entities from using taxpayer dollars in transactions for abortion,” Covey advises. “Putting an end to the travesty of subjecting children to gender mutilation and modification procedures.”

Covey and Texas Values say the state legislature failed to address election security, too.

“That certainly needs to be an issue that's included on the call as well,” he says, “and I think that Gov. Abbott has already indicated that that will be the case.”
